Data & Security

RAD keeps a record of your work. It doesn't keep watch over you.
Here's exactly what RAD captures, what it ignores, and what it will never do with your data.

Screen Permissions

RAD builds your R&D evidence from occasional snapshots of the window you're actively working in, not a video, and not your whole screen. Each snapshot captures a moment of the development or experimental work you were doing, so RAD can suggest how the work may relate to your project, for human review. RAD is built to focus on work evidence. See our DPA for full detail on how incidental data is handled.

For windows users, none of these permissions apply.

macOS lists this permission as “Screen Recording” - the broad capability to record your screen. What RAD actually exercises with it is much smaller, and deliberately so.

What RAD actually captures

Active window only - not your whole screen

Active window only - not your whole screen

RAD looks at the work apps where R&D happens. Switch off anything you'd rather it ignored. You can change it any time.

Capture is never stored long-term

They are deleted immediately after processing, within minutes of when they're gathered.

Encrypted before it rests on disk

Frames are sealed with AES-256-GCM the moment they're encoded. There is never a plaintext screenshot sitting on your disk, at any point.

Exclude apps

The Privacy settings let you exclude specific apps from snapshots entirely.

Encrypted the moment it's captured

RAD seals everything it captures with AES-256-GCM encryption on your device, before anything is processed.
